It’s hard to make a funny post, or complain about my husband when there are horrible things happening in the world around us.
Today I will spend my day raising my girls to be compassionate and kind. To see the people around us as 100% equal. To accept and encourage the differces in all of us.
Raising children in a world full of such tragedy is terrifying. Not only keeping them safe, but teaching them not to fill their hearts with hate for the world around them. It’s easy to be angry and spread even more hatred and discrimination based off of a broad label like ethnicity and race.
We may never be able to stop bad things from happening around us, but we do have the power to control our impact on the people around us. Choose kindness, choose acceptance, choose love.
My heart breaks for everyone affected in Manchester, for Richard Collins III and his loved ones; and for anyone else feeling discriminated or hated for simply being yourself.
